Built by athleteswho've been hurt
Each of us has been injured and gone through rehab. We started OrthIQ so the physical therapists and coaches we worked with could see what we did between sessions.
Most reps happen away from the clinic or gym
Our physical therapists and coaches saw us for an hour or two a week. Everything we did on our own was invisible to them, and they had to take our word for how it went. We're building OrthIQ, a smart wearable sleeve, so clinics and training centers can see every rep their patients and athletes do, wherever they do it.
We have a patent pending on the way the sleeve senses movement. We're testing the second version of the hardware now.
The people building it
There are four of us, all engineers, split between Columbia University in New York and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Our backgrounds are in electrical and biomedical engineering as well as software, so we design the sensor and the app ourselves. All four of us are athletes.
